The Journey. Life is a Journey. Life is actually a collection of many interwoven journeys. Some journeys are short, some long, some are intense, some are subtle. Some are happy and some are sad. Some are easy and some are not. Some journeys have a definite beginning and end, and some are less clear. But the journeys are there, and each journey helps shape us into the unique, complex, and wonderful persons we are. No matter what our circumstances, we can experience life more richly by purposefully recognizing and intentionally savoring our many journeys. It can greatly enrich how we experience each day, can help us discover greater meaning in our lives, and can help us connect with the people with whom our journeys are shared.
But often we don’t recognize our journeys, and even if we do, we don’t fully appreciate them. We're hurried, we're looking far ahead, we're searching for something more, we don’t have time, we have too many things competing for our attention, and an infinite number of other reasons we are not aware.
A beautiful perspective on this is "The Station", written by Robert J. Hastings.
As they say, life is short. “Savor the Journey” urges us to purposefully live life as it happens. Don't just focus on the end or the goal, but pay close attention to what is happening all along the way. Slow down. Stop. Notice it. Look around. Listen to it. Step back away from it. Breathe it in with all your senses. Savor it! Make a point to savor your journeys and embrace them, and it will greatly enrich your life!
